The Department of Atatürk’s Principles and the History of the Revolution is an academic unit that examines the founding process of the Republic of Turkey, Atatürk’s principles and reforms, and key developments in the history of the Republic through a scientific approach. Our department aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Turkish nation’s struggle for independence, the National Struggle era, the founding philosophy of the Republic of Turkey, and the political, social, economic, and cultural transformations achieved during the Republican era.
The department prioritizes not merely the transmission of historical events, but also encourages students to evaluate events within a cause-and-effect framework, analyze historical information and documents, and develop critical thinking and interpretive skills. Accordingly, the historical foundations of Atatürk’s principles and reforms, as well as their role in the modernization process of the Republic of Turkey, are examined using scientific methods.
